The Declaration of Human Rights was established in 1948. This declaration establishes a universal standard of living that every human being is entitled. The declaration states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity”, everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in the declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as sex, birth, status, political or other opinion, property or religion.
Even though the declaration established a universal standard of living; human rights violations like poverty, disease, war and discrimination can render the declaration void and useless. The most vulnerable people whom the declaration is aimed to protect are least likely to benefit or exercise their rights.
